Loren C. Owensby, M.D.

Dr. Owensby graduated with a major in chemistry from the University of Alabama, then graduated from medical school in 1973 at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He did all of his postgraduate training in the U.S. Army at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and then served as Assistant Chief of the Gastroenterology Services at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and at Brooke Army Medical Center, serving a total of eight years active duty. He entered private practice as a Board Certified Gastroenterologist in Victoria, TX in 1981. He has become particularly dedicated to colorectal cancer screening. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the American College of Gastroenterology and has served on the Credentials Committee of the ACG and as President of the Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. He and his wife Lynn have been married for nearly 40 years and have three adult children and four grandchildren, each of whom occupies most of their avocational time. They also enjoy photographing wildflowers and wildlife at their small ranch in nearby Goliad County.
