Dr. Harvey Young has been a member of the Stanford Medical Center for over 20 years now. He is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. After completing his Gastroenterology fellowship at Stanford, he became the first Chief of Endoscopy, founder and Medical Director of the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit at Stanford. He held these positions for over a decade before opening his private office adjacent to Stanford on Welch Road in 1998.
He continues to teach Gastroenterology fellows at Stanford and is currently an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine. He was awarded the “Golden Colonoscope” award by Stanford fellows for his excellence in endoscopic skill and teaching. Dr. Young has lectured throughout the world. He is a well-respected physician leader and has served in multiple leadership roles at Stanford and national medical societies.
Dr. Young incorporates the most up to date medical knowledge with a strong dose of common sense and compassion when he treats all his patients. Counted amongst his patients are many doctors, nurses and their families. Dr. Young attracts many patient referrals from Gastroenterologists, Surgeons and Internists throughout California. He also has a large number of international patients coming from many different countries.
Dr. Young obtained his M.D. degree and Internal Medicine training from Northwestern University in Chicago. In addition to English, Dr. Young and his staff are also fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese and Cantonese.
