Marc Catalano, M.D.
Dr. Catalano has a special interest in the area of endoscopic ultrasound and biliary endoscopy and has written more than 200 articles pertaining to endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound published in a variety of medical journals. He has presented numerous lectures at scientific meetings throughout the United States, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia. He is also actively involved in medical research and is co-director of the Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopic Fellowship Training Program at GI Consultants. Dr. Catalano has been director and co-director of several scientific meetings and courses. He is also an associate Editor of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (a leading digestive journal). He has also had the distinction of having been chosen as one of "The Best Doctors in America" and his name has appeared in the Midwest Regional guide of that publication. Dr. Catalano is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Nalini M. Guda, M.D.
Dr. Guda completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Clinical Campus. He received advanced ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound training at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. His special interests include biliary and pancreatic disease management. Dr. Guda is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
K. Shiva Kumar, M.D.
Dr. Kumar is a board certified gastroenterologist specializing in the management of liver diseases and care of patients pre- and post liver transplantation. He has authored many publications and has done numerous presentations at national meetings addressing various aspects of hepatology. He served on the Practice Parameters Committee of the American College of Gastroenterology from 2002 to 2005. Prior to joining GI Associates, he served as Medical Director of Liver Transplantation and Program Director of the Hepatology subspecialty training program at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, LA.
Ricardo Li, M.D., F.A.C.G., A.G.A.F.
Dr. Li has published several medical articles and has experience in medical research. He has received various honors throughout his academic training. He is fluent in English, Chinese, and Spanish. His hobbies include being a medical translator, supervising youth programs and competitive swimming. Dr. Li is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Michael J. Schmalz, M.D., F.A.C.G.
Dr. Schmalz’s special interest lies in hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases, and he has written many articles pertaining to these diseases. He also holds positions on various professional committees, including chief of dndoscopy at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Racine, Wis., and fellow status with the American College of Gastroenterology. He was recently named chairman of the section of Gastroenterology at St. Luke’s Medical Center and is the Governor of Wisconsin for the ACG (1998-present). Dr. Schmalz has also been chosen as one of the “The Best Doctors in America.” He enjoys speaking to people on the community level. He wants people to be informed regarding their GI health. He was spoken to various community groups on such subjects as irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal bleeding, and a common complaint, heartburn. He also travels throughout the country and speaks to his peers professionally regarding the most current treatments and procedures available today in treating patients who suffer from gastrointestinal illness. Dr. Schmalz is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
