Howard M. Hack, MD, SC

Dr. Hack is an experienced gastroenterologist who has performed approximately 30,000 endoscopic procedures and 700 capsule endoscopies. Dr. Hack received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania Magna Cum Laude. He then went on to get his M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Hack performed his internship at the Cleveland Clinic and returned to Washington University to Barnes Hospital for his internal medicine residency. Dr. Hack was recruited to Stanford University for his fellowship in gastroenterology, working under the auspices of Dr. Julie Parsonnet and Dr. George Triadafiloupoulos. Dr. Hack has been on the clinical faculty at Stanford University and plans to resume some voluntary teaching part time.

Dr. Hack’s clinical interests are varied, but he has maintained a strong interest in colon cancer screening , wireless video capsule endoscopy and the use of advanced endoscopic techniques e.g. for colon polyp detection and removal.

Dr. Hack is married with 3 children. They enjoy spending family time together playing tennis, swimming and biking.
