P. Frederick Duckworth, Jr., M.D.

Dr. Fred Duckworth graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then completed medical school at the University of Virginia in 1984. He continued his training in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia where he served an additional year as a Chief Resident. He remained at MCV for his fellowship training in Gastroenterology which was completed in 1991. He recertified in Gastroenterology with the ABIM in 2001. After a year on the faculty in the Division of Gastroenterolgy at MCV, he joined Gastrointestinal Specialists, Inc in Richmond, VA.

Dr. Duckworth has served as the Chief of Endoscopy at Memorial Regional Medical Center for many years. He has been very active in the Virginia Gastroenterology Society, including serving as the Course Director of the American College of Gastroenterology/ Virginia Gastroenterology Society Regional Course held annually in Williamsburg, VA. He completed a two year term as President of the VGS in 2009, and remains on the Board of Directors as the Past-President.

In addition to his professional activities Dr. Duckworth enjoys spending time at the Chesapeake Bay fishing and boating. His other interests include scuba diving and woodworking.
