Brent W. Geissinger, M.D., F.A.C.G.

Dr. GeissingerDr. Geissinger was born in Philadelphia, PA. He received his B.S. with Honors in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987. He remained in Chapel Hill to earn his medical degree and then moved on to Nashville, TN where he completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Wake Forest University, Bowman Gray School of Medicine in 1991. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

As a gastroenterologist, Dr. Geissinger has a special interest in colon cancer screening and in raising public awareness of the disease. He has given talks to local physicians to encourage screening and has been a guest on "Ask the Expert" with Pasquale Giovani on WTAR 850 AM Talk Radio. He also has interests in diseases of the biliary tract, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver disease. He is on active staff at Sentara Independence and Sentara Princess Anne Hospital. He is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In his free time you will find him either on the golf course or spending leisure time with his three children.

Trent D. Martin, M.D., A.G.A.F.

Dr. MartinDr. Martin was born and raised in western Canada. He earned his medical degree at the University of Alberta School of Medicine, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1983 and his Bachelor of Medical Sciences in 1981. He completed his internal medicine residency at Saint Thomas Hospital Medical Center in Akron, Ohio where he also served as Chief Medical Resident. He completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Francis Scott Key Medical Center, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland in 1988. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

As a practicing Gastroenterologist, Dr. Martin has a special interest in diseases of the biliary tract, laser treatment of upper gastrointestinal bleeding, preventative screening of gastrointestinal malignancies and management of esophageal cancer. He is on the active staff at Sentara Independence and Sentara Princess Anne Hospital. Dr. Martin is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Dr. Martin is married and has four children, Elizabeth, Alex, Will and Isabelle. He enjoys youth soccer, snowboarding and spending leisure time with his family.

Suhas L. Deshmukh, M.D.

Dr. DeshmukhDr. Deshmukh was born and raised in central India. He earned his medical degree at the Medical College Nagpur in Central India. Before coming to the United States he was practicing in Mumbai, India.

He completed his residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has been practicing in Virginia Beach since 2002. As a gastroenterologist he has special interest in liver and billiary diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, esophageal and colon cancer prevention. He is on staff at Sentara Bayside Hospital and Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. He is an active member of the American Gastroenterology Association, American College of Gastroenterology and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is happily married and has 2 beautiful daughters. In his free time he likes to spend time with family and friends, jogging and listening to music.
