Eduardo Ruan, M.D.
Dr. Ruan has been in private practice since 1996. Dr. Ruan is a graduate of the Colegio Mayor del Rosario in Bogota, Colombia. He completed his internship at Georgetown University Department of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and his Gastroenterology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Ruan is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
Daniel Gelrud, MD
Dr. Daniel Gelrud is a graduate of the Central University of Venezuela. Dr. Gelrud completed his Internal Medicine Residency, Chief Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship from Montefiore Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Dr. Gelrud completed a Research Fellowship at the Brigham & Woman's Hospital of the Harvard Medical School in Boston. From 2001 through 2006, Dr. Gelrud was an Assistant Clinical Professor of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He was the Director of Interventional Endoscopy at Jacobi Medical Center and was an Endoscopic Ultrasound attending at Montefiore Medical Center.
Javier L. Parra, MD
Dr. Javier L. Parra is board-certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and has been in academic practice since 2006. Prior to joining Gastroenterology Care Center, Dr. Parra was Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Chief of Jackson Memorial Hospital’s GI Endoscopy Unit. Dr. Parra is a national leader in small bowel endoscopy procedures and lectures frequently to other gastroenterologists on advanced endoscopy procedures such as ERCP and cholangioscopy. Dr. Parra is a graduate of Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Once he finished medical school, he joined the University of Miami as a volunteer researcher for two years. He then completed his residency with honors at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA and his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Miami.
Arie Slomianski, MD
Dr. Arie Slomianski has been in practice since 1995. Dr. Slomianski is a graduate of the National Autonomous University in Mexico City. Dr. Slomianski completed his internal medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where he served as Chief Resident for one year. Doctor Slomianski is board certified in Gastroenterology.
Stefania Vernace, M.D.
Dr. Vernace is Director of the women's Health Care Center. She is a clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Florida International University. She is also a member of the Baptist Hospital Endoscopy Committee.
Dr. Vernace received her medical degree from the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Vernace completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at The New York Presbyterian Hospital and Weill-Cornell Medical College. She has extensive training in Colonoscopy and Endoscopic Ultrasound. She is board-certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
While at The New York Presbyterian Hospital and Weill-Cornell Medical College, Dr. Vernace developed a passion for women's gastrointestinal health. She became an advocate for colorectal cancer screening, detection and treatment. She has now developed the Women's Health Care Center to provide integrated health care for women with special attention to their gastrointestinal health.
James S. Leavitt, M.D.
Dr. James Leavitt has been in practice since 1980. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Magna Cum Laude, and the State University of New York Downstate Medical School. He completed his medical internship and residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami as well as his Gastroenterology fellowship. Dr. Leavitt is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, and has been named one of the top 28 Gastroenterologists in America by Becker's ASC Review.
Alfredo M. Rabassa, M.D.
Dr. Alfredo Rabassa has been in private practice since 1995. Dr. Rabassa is a graduate of Georgetown University and the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and a fellowship in Hepatology at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He completed his fellowships in Gastroenterology and Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas. Dr. Rabassa is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
