Steven Larson, MD

Dr. LarsonDr. Larson received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his Medical Degree from Rush University in Chicago as part of a United States Air Force scholarship program. His Internal Medicine Residency was completed at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin. He then completed his gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at Wilford Hall and Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Dr. Larson completed his training in 2006 and held a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine from 2006 until joining Tacoma Digestive Disease Center in 2009. He has a strong interest in treating patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Other areas of interest are capsule endoscopy, colon cancer prevention and functional bowel diseases. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is board certified in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and is also board certified in Internal Medicine.

Brian Mulhall, MD

Dr. MulhallDr. Mulhall received his undergraduate degrees in biology and philosophy/ethics at the University of San Diego and received his medical degree from St. Louis University. He completed his internal medicine residency at Madigan Army Medical Center where he subsequently served as the Chief of Medical Residents. Upon moving to Washington, D.C., he completed his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Walter Reed Medical Center while earning a master’s degree in public health from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He was selected to stay as faculty at Walter Reed Medical Center where he was asked to serve as the Director of the Center for Liver Disease. He returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2005 where he served as a staff gastroenterologist at Madigan Army Medical Center.

Dr. Mulhall is especially interested in inflammatory bowel disease, biliary and liver processes, along with functional intestinal disorders. Dr. Mulhall has been recognized for his research endeavors and his teaching abilities. He has written for numerous medical publications and has presented his findings, as well as facilitated educational sessions, at national meetings. He has been active in the American College of Gastroenterology and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, serving on the research committees for both societies. He is the previous editor of the Clinical Advances in Gastroenterology series for the ACG.
