Dr. James J. O’Mailia, a board certified Gastroenterologist, has been serving southwest Florida for more than 20 years. His private practice is in Fort Myers, with a satellite office in Cape Coral adjacent to his procedure center, Lifeline Endoscopy. He employs a friendly, professional support staff and utilizes the latest in gastrointestinal diagnostics and treatments.

Dr. O’Mailia graduated from Ohio’s Kenyon College. In the 1980’s, he received his MD from the University of Florida and served a 3-year residency, and one year as Chief Resident, at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Nearby, world famous Charity Hospital, with its legendary Grand Rounds summits, proved to be an ideal training ground in all areas of Internal Medicine. His interest was set on Cardiology. However, when Dr. O’Mailia realized his knack for controlling the intricate G. I. endoscope, and diagnosing and treating a myriad of digestive disorders, he chose Gastroenterology as his specialty and in 1988, completed his Fellowship training at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Ohio.

To date, Dr. O’Mailia has performed more than 70,000 gastroenterology procedures on thousands of patients. He is a member of many notable Gastroenterologic Societies and Medical Associations, and he remains at the forefront of ever-changing medical technologies.
