Barry Sanders, M.D., AGAF

Dr. Sanders has been in the practice of Gastroenterology in the Lewisville/Carrollton area since 1978. He graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo and received his M.D. degree from the same university. After completing internship and residency in Internal Medicine, he completed a GI fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia. Since that time he has completed numerous postgraduate courses.

Dr. Sanders is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and is a member of several medical societies such as; American Gastroenterological Association, and the American College of Physicians. Since 1979, Dr. Sanders has been a Clinical Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical School. He established the GI Endoscopy lab at Medical Center of Lewisville and has active staff privileges at Medical Center of Lewisville, Baylor Medical Center of Carrollton, and Baylor Surgicare of Lewisville. Dr. Sanders was elected Chief of Staff of Medical Center of Lewisville for 1997 and 1998.

In May 2007, Dr. Sanders was inducted as an AGA Fellow. This is an honor bestowed by the AGA for superior professional achievement in practice and/or research in the field of gastroenterology.
