John F. Johanson, MD, MSc, FACP, FACG
Dr. John Johanson is a gastroenterologist in private practice in Beloit, WI and also serves as a clinical associate professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, Illinois. His research efforts have focused on treatments for irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, fecal incontinence and gastroesophageal reflux disease. He is also trained in outcomes research and has a particular interest in quality assessment of colonoscopy.
Dr. Johanson is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology and internal medicine. Since 1993, he has served on various committees for the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
Dr. Johanson has also served as editor for Evidence-Based Gastroenterology and on the editorial board of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has authored or co-authored more than 200 research articles and abstracts in top gastroenterology publications including American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Johanson earned his bachelor’s in science degree in biology from Wheaton College, his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, and his master’s of science degree in epidemiology and biostatistics from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
