Bernard M. Aaron, M.D., FACP, FACG

Dr. AaronDr. Aaron completed did his undergraduate work at Hobart College in Geneva, New York. He obtained his M.D. degree from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in 1969. His internship and residency in internal medicine were done at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City and at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Connecticut. Dr. Aaron then completed a two year fellowship in gastroenterology at the Manhattan Veterans Administration Hospital in New York City. After spending two years as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, he moved to Long Island where he was the acting chief of gastroenterology at the State University of New York, Stonybrook Medical School until coming to this area in 1977.

Dr. Aaron is boarded in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Aaron is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Aaron is married to Susan and has four grown children and two grandchildren. When he is not spending his leisure time with family, he enjoys playing piano, violin, and golf.

William Basri, M.D., FACG

Dr. BasriDr. Basri earned his Bachelor's Degree from Columbia College in 1984. Dr. Basri graduated from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in 1989. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Basri became board certified in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (the study of liver diseases) in 1993.

Dr. Basri is also a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Basri has taught medical residents at Jersey Shore University Medical Center for more than 15 years and enjoys a close working relationship with the teaching faculty at the hospital. Dr. Basri has a special interest in the prevention of gastrointestinal cancer. He strongly believes in the judicious use of endoscopic procedures to detect cancer in an early and potentially curable stage. In addition, he stresses the importance of good nutrition and supplemental vitamins for cancer prevention.

Dr. Basri likes to spend his leisure time with his family. Boating is a particularly enjoyable activity that he shares with his wife and three children.

Mark Cerefice, M.D.

Dr. Cerefice completed his Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the University of Virginia. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was awarded the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. He received his undergraduate education at James Madison University, and completed his medical school training at Saint George’s University School of Medicine, where he was the recipient of the Legacy of Excellence Scholarship.

Dr. Cerefice is an active member of a number of professional societies, including the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Crohns and Colitis Foundation.

Dr. Cerefice treats patients with a wide variety of gastrointestinal diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease, GERD, pancreaticobiliary disorders, and chronic liver disease. His other professional interests include esophageal diseases, nutrition, celiac disease, and colorectal cancer screening. In his spare time he enjoys sports, the ocean, and most of all, being with his family.

Kenny Hui, M.D.

Dr. HuiDr. Hui received his undergraduate degree from New York University in New York City. He then received his Doctor of Medicine degree from New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Hui did his internal medicine residency at New York University Medical Center/Bellevue Medical Center. He then completed his training in gastroenterology at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York.

Dr. Hui is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. His many honors include membership in the American Board of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Hui enjoys spending his spare time with his wife and two children.

Scott M. Schlachter, D.O., FACG

Dr. SchlachterDr. Schlachter received his undergraduate degree from The University of Delaware in 1987. He then earned his degree in Medicine from the University of Health Sciences in 1991. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Seton Hall University where he was the Chief Medical Resident followed by a Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 1998.

Dr. Schlachter is Board Certified in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Internal Medicine. He is a member of numerous Gastroenterology societies including The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, The American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Schlachter is proficient in all advanced endoscopic gastrointestinal and biliary procedures and is a strong advocate of colorectal cancer screening and prevention. He has been the Outstanding Teaching Attending of the Year at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he helps train tomorrow’s physicians.

Dr. Schlachter enjoys music, baseball, classic cars, traveling and spending time with his wife and 2 daughters.

Steven Schneiderman, M.D.

Dr. SchneidermanDr. Schneiderman obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Brooklyn College with a major in chemistry. He received his M.D. degree at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in 1984. He completed a three year residency in internal medicine followed by an additional year as chief medical resident at Staten Island University Hospital. Dr. Schneiderman was in the private practice of internal medicine for two years before completing a two year fellowship in gastroenterology at Booth Memorial Hospital in Queens, New York.

Dr. Schneiderman is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is married to his wife Brenda and has four children. His interests include all sports, music, movies and broadway shows.

Matthew Tangorra, D.O.

Dr. TangorraDr.Tangorra provides specialty care in all areas of digestive and liver diseases. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Dr. Tangorra is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is an active member of a number of professional societies, including the American College of Gastroenterology and The American Gastroenterology Association. He received his undergraduate education at Boston College and completed his medical school training at the Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine.
