James C. Bienvenu, M.D.

Dr. BienvenueDr. Bienvenu is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana. A summa cum laude graduate from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry. Dr. Bienvenu ranked first in his class of 100 at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Upon graduating medical school, he completed a General Surgery internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Bienvenu later completed an Internal Medicine residency at University Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. Selected for a fellowship under Dr. Worth Boyce with the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, Dr. Bienvenu received extensive training in all cognitive and endoscopic aspects of Gastroenterology.

Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, Dr. Bienvenu has been deemed one of the top Gastroenterology Physicians in the State of Louisiana by Louisiana Life Magazine.

Richard K. Broussard, M.D.

Dr. BroussardDr. Broussard, M.D. earned his Medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Broussard completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana. He served as Chief Medical Resident from 1989-1990. He completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Scott and White Hospital (Texas A & M University affiliated) in Temple, Texas from 1990 to 1993.

Dr. Broussard is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by The American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Broussard has been deemed one of the top Gastroenterology Physicians in the State of Louisiana by his peers in Louisiana Life Magazine.

J. Patrick Herrington, M.D.

Dr. HerringtonDr. Herrington earned his Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1976, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Ochsner Medical Institutions where he served as Chief Resident. He received board certification in Internal Medicine in 1979 and honored with Fellowship in the American College of Physicians. Continuing at Ochsner, Dr. Herrington completed a Gastroenterology Fellowship in 1981 receiving board certification in Gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Herrington served as President of The Louisiana Gastroenterology Society and as Course Director for the American College of Gastroenterology’s last two regional postgraduate courses held in New Orleans from 2009-2011. He has been recently honored in Louisiana Life Magazine by his peers as one of the top GI physicians in the state.

Dr. Herrington has authored articles dealing with esophageal motor disorders, chest pain, and their treatment in various professional journals. He continues to be interested in quality indicators in endoscopy relating to delivering excellence in endoscopic care.

Patrick A. Laporouse, M.D.

Dr. LaporouseDr. Laperouse was born and currently lives in Lafayette, Louisiana. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and his Medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Laperouse completed an Internal Medicine residency at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he also completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship.

Dr. Laperouse completed a year of specialization in Hepatology at Tulane University Hospital and Clinic. He spent a second year working as a Hepatology Staff Physician with Louisiana State University and Tulane University, in the area of Gastroenterology, focusing on Clinical and Transplant Hepatology. Dr. Laperouse is Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Erick A. Salvatierra, M.D.

He received a Doctor of Medicine Degree from Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He completed an Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His Fellowship in Gastroenterology was completed at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Dr. Salvatierra holds membership in the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterological Association.
