CRH Medical Products Corporation

About Us

CRH Medical Products Corporation was established as a medical services company specializing in the treatment of hemorrhoids utilizing the Company owned CRH O’Regan System. This single-use, 100% disposable technology is minimally invasive and has been found to be 99.1% effective and 99.8% pain free in the treatment of hemorrhoids grade I – IV and allows most patients to return work the same day following treatment.

While the CRH O’Regan System was primarily available through our owned and/or operated Centers for Colorectal Health, we have expanded the accessibility to patients nationally by distributing our technology, treatment protocols and operational and marketing expertise as a complete, “turn-key” package directly to partner gastroenterologists who have been trained to perform the procedure.

Market Overview

Though few people like to talk about them, hemorrhoids are extremely common. By age 50, about half of the US population will have experienced this potentially painful condition, which results from an increase in pressure inside the veins of the rectum. Common causes include constipation, pregnancy, childbirth, obesity, heavy lifting, sitting for long periods and diarrhea.

According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), the prevalence of hemorrhoids in the United States is 10.4 million people, with approximately 1 million new cases diagnosed every year. Yet only 3.5 million of the 10.4 million people with the condition seek medical treatment, making it a dramatically under-treated problem.

Despite the number of patients who suffer in silence, more than 50 million hemorrhoid banding procedures are performed each year, making it the most common procedure performed worldwide. As the baby boomer population ages, and awareness of nonsurgical treatment options grows, it is expected that the number of banding procedures will rise.

That’s a good thing for a number of reasons. For one, more patients will enjoy a permanent cessation of symptoms that may have plagued them for years. Additionally, proper treatment of hemorrhoids allows for accurate screening for colorectal cancer. That’s because it removes hemorrhoids as a cause of blood in the stool.

Business Opportunity

Hemorrhoids can be treated by primary care physicians, but the procedure requires special equipment, careful preparation and time-consuming sterilization of instruments. Many doctors and hospitals would prefer to send patients to a facility specializing in hemorrhoid banding. These relatively minor procedures take staff away from more pressing (and profitable) procedures.

We are currently working with leading Gastroenterology Practice Groups to achieve the fastest possible adoption of the CRH Technology by a broad segment of the medical community. Called the Partnership Program, this initiative is increasing the number of physicians using our products and is helping to rapidly capture market share, build brand awareness and create value.

The Partnership Program provides GI’s with the ability to utilize our hemorrhoid banding technology, treatment protocols, training, marketing and operational experience as a complete “turn key” package. This allows GI practices to increase revenues, expand the continuum of care and provide a fast, painless and permanent solution for patients.  Approximately 14 million colonoscopies are performed each year, with an estimated 15 - 20% of those identifying a diagnosis of symptomatic hemorrhoids. The market indicates that most of these potential patients are going untreated.
